Establishing yourself as the leader, or "alpha," in your dog's eyes can be one of the most difficult things to teach them. If your dog believes themselves to be the alpha, they may begin to misbehave and not respond to commands. As pack animals, dogs need to know who is in charge of their pack. When you become their owner, you need to let them know that it is your pack and you are the leader.
